The usage data AIGauge fetches is stored only on your device in Chrome. Account information and usage data from the target services are never sent to AIGauge's servers. The history used for trends and forecasts is on-device only too, and it stores just the time, the kind of limit, and the percentage used. Fetching the promotional-slot config and counting clicks are kept separate from your usage data.

Is AIGauge free?
Yes. AIGauge is a free Chrome extension. No AIGauge account is required.
To read usage, you need a tab logged into the target service.
Which services does it support?
It supports Claude subscription limits on claude.ai and Codex usage limits
on chatgpt.com. API-key metered billing and dollar totals aren't covered.
Is usage data sent anywhere?
Usage data is never sent to AIGauge's servers and is stored on-device in
Chrome. Reading it uses your already-logged-in claude.ai or chatgpt.com tab.
What does the promotional slot communicate and count?
It fetches a public JSON file without credentials to switch what's shown.
If a remote image is displayed, your IP address and similar info may reach
the image host, as with any normal web image. Clicking a promotion counts
the app name, slot, and daily click count without identifying you personally.
Claude/Codex usage and account information are never included.
Is this an official extension?
No. AIGauge is an unofficial tool from Ray of Ray and is not affiliated
with Anthropic or OpenAI. Internal API changes at either service may
temporarily break the ability to fetch usage.
How is the estimated time to reach the cap calculated?
AIGauge looks at the usage history stored on your device, works out how fast the current window is filling up (percentage points per hour), and projects when that pace would reach 100%. It is an extrapolation of your recent pace rather than a statistical model, so treat it as a guide. While there are only a few data points, no estimate is shown at all — we would rather show nothing than an unreliable number.
When do notifications appear, and can I turn them off?
A single notification appears when a limit reaches 80% or 95%, and when a limit resets. Notifications are an optional permission and are not requested at install time. AIGauge asks for permission only when you turn on "Alerts" at the bottom of the side panel, and returns the permission when you turn it off. Nothing is sent while it is off.
What does the history store, and can I delete it?
Only three things: the time it was fetched, an identifier for the kind of limit, and the percentage used. Conversation content, prompts, token counts, names and email addresses are never stored. The organization's internal id is not kept verbatim — it is reduced to a short hash value. History is kept for at most 31 days, older points are dropped automatically, and "Clear history" in the side panel deletes all of it at any time. It is never transmitted anywhere.
Why does the small window show different things at different sizes?
The small window changes how much it shows based on its width. When narrow it abbreviates the product names (CL / CX) and hides the reset column; when wider it shows "Claude" and "Codex" in full along with the time remaining and the reset time. The limit rows themselves are never removed, because seeing both services at once is the priority.
